Selection of Titles on Ancient Greek Music

Ancient Greek Music has been a privileged target in our Library’s acquisition policy from the very beginning. In the same direction, great effort has been invested in supporting the specialized music monographs collection with titles from neighbouring disciplines, such as Philology (the Oxford and Teubner editions of classical texts, studies in drama, metrics etc.), History, Philosophy etc., as well as reference works, e.g. the Paulys Realencyklopaedie, both in the complete (microfiches) and abbridged (5 vols.) versions, the Lexicon Iconographicum Mythologiae Classicae (18 vols.), the Thesaurus Linguae Grecae (CD-ROM), the Liddell-Scott and other specialized dictionaries, new (e.g. the Index Aeschylaeus) and ancient (e.g. Pollux), Du Cange’s dictionary of medieval Latin, the whole Patrologia, greek and latin (microfiches), etc.

Our ambition, in offering this material to our patrons, is to meet the challenge of interdisciplinarity, which every serious study of ancient Greek Music is faced with, and generally enhance the benefit from the use of our Library.

You can find here a selection of some of the most important titles on Ancient Greek Music in the Music Library L. Voudouri. Each title is provided with a short abstract.
